“From our first experience watching Coach Vehans and his team working with the basketball players, my husband and I realized that LA Select was not your typical youth basketball organization. The intensity and talent we saw on the court was overwhelming. Somewhat intimidated at first, we questioned if this was this the right fit for our son. With his candid approach and no-nonsense ways, Coach Vehans asked for 100% commitment and assured us we would see big improvements in a short time.
It didn’t take long before we witnessed his promise. The fundamental training our son received from the coaching team prepared him to play the sport at a high level. From ball handling, shooting technique, defense, rebounding, passing, proper footwork and conditioning along with the mental game, he was prepared to be a starting point guard with confidence, IQ and drive. Beyond just basketball techniques, Coach Vehans nourished a self-less group of teammates, working on their mental game, keeping emotions off the court, playing smart basketball, being a leader on the court, all the while maintaining grades and succeeding in everyday life.
It wasn’t long before we also signed up our then 5 year old. Now 7, he competes with 10 year olds and shows improvements daily. With a serious curriculum, LA Select demands devotion but yet gives you back so much more, not to mention a group of friends we call family. Words cannot express the joy we experience watching the Select boys in action. My husband and I are both amazed by how far our boys have come since joining Coach Vehans and the Select family.
